Is Proxximos a hardware solution?
Proxximos is largely a Software-as-a-Service solution
In the standard system users use an App on their phones, and customers use a WebApp to administer the system. This is designed to be scalable – so that the system can meet the threat of a major bio-risk such as another pandemic.
Hardware options
Proxximos has hardware options driven by customer requirements. The first option is the use of hubs and Bluetooth transponders. These enable phones to be aware of the context of an encounter which improves accuracy. The hubs let phones know that the space where people met was poorly ventilated and noisy for example. The transponders are very cheap devices that can be used to indicate the presence of other mitigations such as the use of screens or PPE, again making the system even more accurate
The second hardware option is a wearable version for users. Not all user can use phones and so wearables can be deployed indeed. This makes the system accessible for vulnerable people. And some locations are unsuitable for mobile phones (restricted areas, or areas with explosive atmosphere risks). Wearables can be used in these areas. Wearables are inherently more accurate than phones because Proxximos has designed them specifically to meet the needs of infectious disease detection. In high extremely consequence deployments (protecting the ICU in a hospital) for example, wearables provide better protection.
